Anton Osika, CEO of the vibe coding platform Lovable AI, highlighted the shift in creativity brought about by artificial intelligence. He claims that individuals can now move seamlessly from brainstorming to developing a functioning product, all without formal computer science education. This makes technology more accessible than ever, allowing more voices to contribute to the digital landscape.
Testing Vibe Coding: My Experience
Curious to explore this new phenomenon firsthand, I decided to put vibe coding to the test by creating a mood tracker app using the Lovable platform. As a reporter for Entrepreneur with some basic coding knowledge, I wanted to see if vibe coding truly held up to its promises.
Upon signing up for Lovable, which offers a beginner-friendly interface and a free plan, I set out to create a simple mood-tracking app. My vision was to allow users to log their moods, visualize mood trends through charts, and include features like reminders for daily check-ins and options for data exports.
Crafting the App with a Simple Prompt
I entered my prompt: “Users log moods and see color-coded charts showing emotional trends over time. Add reminders and data export features.” Within 20 seconds, Lovable responded with enthusiasm, stating it would “create a beautiful mood tracking app with emotional trend visualization, reminders, and data export!”
In mere minutes, the app came to life, providing a sleek dashboard with five emotional states to log—joyful, calm, neutral, anxious, and down. Users could interact with mood trend charts, view a color-coded calendar, and set up daily reminders, all while enjoying the ability to export mood data. Lovable also ensured that all data was stored locally, safeguarding user privacy.
The Result: MoodFlow
The app emerged with the name MoodFlow, and, astonishingly, the entire creation process took less than five minutes, including the initial setup on the Lovable platform. It was as effortless as downloading an app, yet the potential for utility was significant.
While I plan to evaluate MoodFlow’s effectiveness in tracking and identifying emotional trends over time, this initial encounter showcased how straightforward it can be to leverage AI to create useful applications. With vibe coding, the possibilities for innovation are not confined to those with a formal coding background.
A Growing Trend
I am not alone in tapping into the potential of AI-driven app creation. Tech journalist Kevin Roose recently vibe coded an app to help decide his son’s lunch by simply photographing the contents of his fridge. Further highlighting this trend, Harvard neuroscience student Rishab Jain developed an app that translates ancient texts into English through AI assistance.
The market for AI code assistants like Lovable is projected to grow significantly—valued at $1.8 billion in 2024 and anticipated to reach $12.4 billion within the next decade. As AI capabilities expand, vibe coding is set to become an essential tool for aspiring creators across various fields.

My venture into vibe coding was not only intuitive but also empowering. The ability to create an app quickly and at no cost signals a shift in how we will approach technology and digital creation.
